Comprehensive Physical exams- Westlake Animal Hospital delivers comprehensive physical exams for all stages of your pet’s life. Early detection of health problems can allow for prompt treatment. We recommend your pet be examined one to two times a year. Our staff will work with you to understand your pet’s healthcare needs and develop a preventive care plan that best meets those individual needs.

Puppy/Kitten and Adult Vaccines-We have vaccination programs for your new puppy/kitten, as well as annual vaccine packages for adult pets. Every pet is different in their needs and lifestyle, and here at Westlake, we try to cater our vaccination schedule and therapies towards each individual. Puppy/kitten vaccines should start at 6-8 weeks of age and are administered every 3-4 weeks after the initial vaccines until 16 weeks of age. Vaccines are then administered annually. During these visits, regular fecal screenings are performed to evaluate for parasites, as well as annual heartworm testing and tick borne disease monitoring, are performed. Here in Florida, annual heartworm testing and heartworm prevention are strongly recommended and will be discussed thoroughly at your pet’s visit. Microchip placement is also offered at Westlake, so that your pet can be returned safely to you should they go missing. This small device is about the size of a grain of rice and is implanted under the skin of your pet, which has its own unique number registered to you should your pet go missing. Travel/Health Certificates-All of the veterinarians at Westlake Animal Hospital are accredited and therefore able to issue health certificates for sale and travel within the United States on dogs and cats. Please be aware of any necessary airline requirements and make sure to print out all required documents prior to your visit.
