Meet Westlake's Doctors & Staff


dr_geagan.jpgDr. Dennis Geagan, DVM

Dennis Geagan, DVM was originally born in New Orleans but has lived in the Tampa Bay area for over 40 years. 

After graduating from USF with a Bachelor's in Zoology and Chemistry, he then attended the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Florida. 

He is a member of the PCVMA, the FVMA, the AVMA, the Veterinary Dental Society, and the Veterinary Dermatology Society.  He also achieved accreditation with IVAS for veterinary acupuncture in 2001.

He has been at Westlake since 1986, and he and his wife have four dogs, two cats and two teenage sons.



hassell.jpgDr. Byron Hassell, DVM

Dr. Byron Hassell is a Clearwater native who attended the University of Tennessee, where he earned his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.  Once gaining his degree, he then started his internship with Hollywood Animal Hospital, a 15-doctor practice in Hollywood Florida.

Dr. Hassell joined our team in 1990, and has since gained special interest in dermatology, internal medicine, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery.  He is a member of the FVMA, PCVMA, and AVMA and is also currently on the advising board at Tarpon Springs High School Veterinary Academy. 

During his free time, he enjoys spending time with his two beautiful daughters, taking care of his 2 dogs, and working on his small farm with his cows.


dr_morgan.jpgDr. Erin Morgan

Erin Morgan moved to Florida in 2008 from her hometown of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland.  She received an Animal Science degree from the University of Maryland, and her doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Virginia Tech. 

She lives with her 2 cats, "Arthur" and "Elibel", and her 2 dogs "Brodie" and "Charley."  In her free time, she relaxes with friends at the beach, exercises, and travels.  Her recent travels include trips to Spain, Ireland, and Hong Kong. 

She is a member of the AVMA and FVMA and has equal interests in all fields of veterinary medicine.


dr_ojeda.jpgDr. Nyurka Ojeda

Dr. Nyurka Ojeda was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and grew up in Winter Park, FL. 

She graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006 and completed a general rotating internship at Cornell University Hospital for Animals in 2007. 

She is a member of FVMA and AVMA.  Her interests include boating, going to the beach, and walking nature trails with her French Bulldog, Monty.

Dr. Felicite Waterman is originally from Southern Illinois, and attended University of Georgia where she earned her degree in Veterinary Medicine. 

After graduation in 2007 she then relocated to Florida and began her career with Westlake Animal Hospital. 

She lives with her three dogs; Henry, Bucket, and Guy and her one cat, Guiness.  During her free time she enjoys reading and spending time outside.  She is a member of the AVMA and FVMA.

We are very proud of our dedicated team of animal care specialists.  Laurie is our Head Technician.  In addition to her veterinary technology certification, Laurie is a Certified Veterinary Dental Technician. 

Laurie studied at Quinnipiac College in Connecticut before relocating to Florida.  She has been with Westlake Animal Hospital since 1996.

Laura has worked with Westlake Animal Hosital since 1998.  She lives in New Port Richey with her husband, 2 dogs, 3 cats and 4 horses. 

She is a dedicated employee and extreme animal lover.  We are proud to have had her a part of our team for the past 12 years.

Laura has been a receptionist at Westlake Animal Hospital since 1987. 

She lives in Tarpon Springs and is pictured here with her beloved dog Bayley, whom we all loved and miss dearly. 

She received an A.S. in Medical Secretarial from the Chandler School in Boston, Mass.

Kathy moved here from New York with her husband Rich.  She has been a receptionist with us since 2006. 

Kathy is pictured here with her dog "Eddie."  She rescued him when he was a puppy with a broken leg.  Unfortunately "Eddie" had his leg amputated but gets along just great on the other three. 

On Kathy's spare time, she enjoys scuba diving and anything outdoors.

Mary has been working at Westlake Animal Hospital since 2006 as a Veterinary Technician.  She is a dedicated team member and thoroughly enjoys her hands on work with the animals. 

Mary and her husband Dustin have a 1yr old son named Sawyer and live in New Port Richey.  They also have 2 dogs "Khuna" and "Payton" and 4 cats.

Kristin Stiltner (left) and Carrie Conley (right), pictured with Dr. Dennis Geagan, have been working at Westlake Animal Hospital as veterinary technicians.  They have both been attending USF while gaining much hands on experience at our hospital. 

Both Kristin and Carrie were accepted to the University of Florida to start Vet School for Fall semester 2010. 

We are very proud to have been such a large part of their education and wish them both the best.

Dayna is a certified veterinary technician who went to St. Pete College for her degree. 

She has worked with Westlake since 2004 and has attended many continuing education classes to keep up with improved medicine and medical treatment. 

She lives in Dunedin with her husband Joe, her 1 yr old son Gavyn, her dog Layla, and her 3 cats Sierra, Simb
